Mi Rice
Tiny, friendly Southampton noodle bar with kids' menu, high chairs, huge portions and fast food — the stone pot rice is superb.

Italian · Southampton
Handy for a pre-theatre meal if you're heading to the Mayflower with children in tow — the set menu (two courses around £21.50) is good value and gets you out in time. Wood-fired pizzas and the beef lasagne come in for real praise, along with the calamari and cheesy garlic bread, and there are vegan options, a kids' menu and high chairs. There's buggy access, outdoor seating for warmer days and free parking, which takes one worry off the table. Worth knowing: it's popular and gets booked up, so ring ahead, and service can slow right down when it's full — some families have waited a long while for mains. If you're on a clock, say so and ask for courses to be timed; one visitor did exactly that and barely waited between them.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
