About Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem

Carved into the sandstone caves under Nottingham Castle, this is a warren of small rooms with something odd to look at in every one — which buys you a surprising amount of time with a restless child. It's tight inside and the bar area gets packed, so aim for a quiet weekday lunch or head for the outdoor tables, of which there are plenty plus a smaller inner courtyard. Order at the table by QR code, which spares you queueing with a toddler on your hip. The steak and ale pie and the steak and chips both come in for real praise, chips crisp rather than greasy, and there are bar snacks if nobody's properly hungry. High chairs and a kids' menu are available, staff are patient and will come and explain a delay. Parking is on-street and paid.
