Tucked along a pedestrian stretch with a view of Nottingham Castle wall, this is calmer underfoot than a high-street spot — easier with a buggy, and no traffic to worry about while you get everyone out the door. Inside it's warm and pubby, with high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options, plus outdoor tables for when small people need air. Sunday roasts are the draw: lamb shank, big-but-not-silly portions, cauliflower cheese and rustic chips, and sticky toffee pudding people still talk about afterwards. The lemon chicken and the Belgian chocolate brownie get their share of praise too. Staff stay attentive even when it's full, which it often is — mid-Saturday afternoon it properly buzzes, so book if you want a calm table. Breakfast is the weak spot; a few have found it served lukewarm.
