The Dog & Duck
A cosy Southampton local where huge, well-priced Polish and British plates meet high chairs, buggy access and free parking.

Restaurant · Southampton
Two years of new ownership have clearly gone into this place, and it shows most in the garden — a proper suntrap that gets light all day, with a play area outside so children can burn off energy while you finish your drink. Inside is buggy-friendly with high chairs and a kids' menu, and the atmosphere is easy-going rather than hushed. The burgers get named again and again, and there's a seafood boil that's genuinely rare outside London. Portions are good value; cocktails too. Worth knowing: it's a pub first, so Friday nights get busy and there's live music and DJ events, which is fun if you're eating early and less so at bedtime. The hotel rooms above have a poor reputation — come for the food and garden, not a bed.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
