Somewhere between a proper date-night restaurant and a place you can genuinely bring the kids, this contemporary Japanese spot near the Mayflower works surprisingly well for families — clean, cosy, neatly decorated, with high chairs, a kids' menu and room to get a pram in. The ramen is the thing people come back for: one parent describes the broth as one of the nicest things they've ever tasted, and the chashu pork and beef bowls get raved about, along with the tuna and cucumber maki and the teriyaki chicken, which goes down well with children. Staff are attentive and happy to move you to a quieter table at the back. Two honest notes: service can be leisurely at busy times, and prices sit a little above other places nearby — though portions match what you pay. Worth booking before a show.
