Right on the water at the marina, this one solves the parking problem before you even get out of the car — a big car park with the first two hours free, which takes the edge off arriving with a toddler and a bag of stuff. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, and a vast outdoor terrace that comes into its own on a sunny day; even with roads on either side, families say it stays surprisingly quiet out there. The team are the real draw — smiling from the door, good with children, and quick to find you a table in a calmer corner. Portions are generous for the price: the lamb shank, mussels and pasta dishes get the most praise, and there's a decent mac and cheese for younger ones. Worth knowing: wine is steep, there's a 12.5% service charge, and the kitchen stops at 8pm.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
