Set in renovated farm buildings on a countryside estate just outside Jedburgh, this is an easy stop with children — free parking right next door, buggy access, and a large play area across the road to burn off energy before or after. The kitchen is entirely vegetarian and vegan, with an unusual amount of choice for gluten-free and dairy-free eaters too. Waffles, both sweet and savoury, get the loudest praise, along with the pecan banana bread, the ploughman's flatbread and the carrot and pistachio cake. There's homemade gelato on site and a little eco shop attached. Staff are warm and think about families — one parent noted a high chair slotted against the bench seating so their toddler felt part of things. Weekdays are calm; weekends and holidays get busy, and service can slow noticeably when it does.
