Cafés · Jedburgh
A hearty stop in the middle of Jedburgh, and easy enough with children in tow — there's free parking, buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, plus a few outdoor tables when the weather plays along. It's popular with locals as well as visitors, so it can fill up at lunchtime, but tables tend to come quickly and staff are warm and attentive, topping up water without being asked. Portions are enormous: the Full Scottish is properly loaded, the BLTs come stacked with salad, coleslaw and crisps, and the Cullen Skink gets singled out again and again. The cakes are the real draw — huge slices of sponge, rhubarb and orange among them — so one between two is plenty for smaller appetites. Clean toilets, vegan options, and prices one parent sums up as "very reasonable".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
