Tucked away with a warm French Alps feel — dim lights, candles, rustic wood — this is cosier than it is roomy, so a pram may need parking by the door and it's worth calling ahead, as tables go fast. Once you're in, food lands quickly: bread, butter, olives, cold cuts and water arrive almost before you've settled, which is a lifesaver when someone small is already asking how long. The set lunch, served 12pm to 4pm at one, two or three courses, is exceptional value, and the steak frites and French onion soup are what people come back for. Portions are generous, staff are quick and unfussy about dietary needs, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and a few outdoor tables.
