Brunch · Edinburgh
Brunch here is genuinely worth the faff, and the staff make it easy — one couple arrived with a pram and a small baby and were helped to settle in without any fuss. The pistachio and strawberry pancakes are the reason most families come back: double-stacked, absurdly fluffy, topped with fresh strawberries and coconut. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and a few outdoor tables, and vegan eaters do well too — the tofu scramble is huge, and pancakes can be made gluten-free. Two honest snags: tables sit close together and it gets crowded, so book ahead if you're coming at the weekend, and the cooking smells cling to your clothes a bit. Food generally arrives promptly, which matters when someone's flagging. One parent calls the pancakes "the perfect pancake".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
