About Chamuyo

Small, cosy and candlelit, this Brighton spot leans steakhouse but makes room for families — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu all confirmed. The room is quaint and softly lit with gentle background music, so it suits an early dinner better than a boisterous weekend one; booking is sensible, as tables go quickly. Portions are generous: the lamb shank arrives huge and falling apart, steaks come cooked exactly as asked, and the chunky fries, mash, grilled vegetables and chimichurri all get singled out. Churros and cheesecake finish things off well. Service is the standout — warm from the door, unhurried, glasses topped up, and a table of eight was served all at once, which matters when children are hungry. One diner found the mash a touch thin. Not cheap, but the plates justify it.
