About Burnt Orange

You'd not immediately clock this Brighton spot as somewhere to bring the children, but it works — there's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and a few outdoor tables, and the room is stylish without being precious about it. The team are welcoming and quick to steer you towards the good stuff; even on a busy night things run smoothly and nobody rushes you out. The Flamed Sea Bream comes up again and again, and the flatbread and BBQ chicken thigh are worth ordering; there's plenty for vegans too, and portions are well judged. Two honest caveats: the food can be a little uneven plate to plate, and service is attentive in bursts rather than constantly, so a hungry toddler may need a snack in reserve. One parent called the whole evening "genuinely hard to fault".
