A pit stop on a busy Brighton street, this one is really about coffee and cake rather than a proper family meal — though there is a kids' menu, high chairs and a few outdoor tables, which makes it easy to park a pram and let children watch the world go by. The Lavazza coffee has genuine fans who make a point of returning, and the cake counter is the draw: berry cheesecake and tiramisu come in for particular praise, and one visitor calls the tiramisu and orange pie "delicious". The room is kept spotless. Be warned, though: service is the sore point here, described more than once as brusque or rushed, drinks orders do go astray, and prices feel steep for what arrives. Worth a stop for a slice and a window seat, not a long lunch.
