Salt and Pepper Kitchen Plymouth
Independent Plymouth café with fast, generous breakfasts, a warm welcome for kids, and a Biscoff cheesecake worth the detour.

Chinese · Plymouth
A small Plymouth spot where the welcome does a lot of the work — the owners chat, remember faces, and have been known to put out decorations when someone's celebrating, which makes turning up with children feel easy rather than apologetic. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and food arrives fresh-cooked and piping hot, so there isn't a long wait for a hungry child. The menu runs authentic Chinese and Malaysian: char kway teow, mapo tofu, sizzling beef, and an unusual spicy-and-sour shredded potato dish people go back for, plus vegan choices. The lunch special is around £15 for two courses, which is decent value. It's a little place, so it's worth booking at busy times, and pram space is tight. One nice detail: despite all the stir-frying, you don't leave smelling of dinner.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
