Calm, authentic Japanese in Plymouth with a kids' menu, fast service and a sizzling steak that doubles as entertainment.

Vegan · Plymouth
Set inside a converted church between the city centre and the Barbican, this vegan spot is roomier and calmer than most places you'll squeeze a pram into — low-key, chilled music, and an unhurried feel that suits children who need a minute. The team are unflappable about dietary needs and sensory fussiness; one group with a gluten-free eater and several neurodivergent diners all ate happily, and nothing was too much trouble. Portions are generous and the menu is wide, and they'll happily do kids' portions for adults too. The rosemary fries get raved about, as does the mezze sharing platter with carrot keftedes and home-made bread. High chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating are all there. Water arrives freely in carafes. It's tucked slightly off the beaten track, and the specials change, so it's worth booking ahead.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
