Sunday lunches here draw families back again and again, and it's easy to see why — the plates are generous, beautifully presented, and cooked to a standard that would cost far more elsewhere. The Welsh lamb, the ribeye and the gravy get particular praise, and specials change often enough that regulars find something new each visit. With a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access into the dining room and free parking outside, the practical side is sorted, and the staff stay attentive even when the room is full. It does get busy — Saturday evenings and holidays fill with celebrations and a happy buzz, so book ahead — and there's only one gents' toilet, which can mean a queue. One parent calls the food "worth every penny", which is high praise given the £££ feel at ££ prices.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
