Tucked near Congburn woods with ramped entrances at every door, this is an easy one with a pram — and there's free parking plus a garden centre and gift shop on site if you need to stretch the visit out. Sunday lunch arrives as a genuine spread: three fresh vegetables, mash and roasties, enormous Yorkshire puddings, extra dishes of mashed turnip and roasted parsnip, all properly hot. Smaller portions are available if your children won't face a full plate, and there's a kids' menu and high chairs. The loaded hash brown breakfast and the fish and chips both get raved about, the latter in monster portions. Staff are warm and quick to accommodate. It's a touch pricier than nearby places, and worth booking — one visitor found it "a hidden gem", and tables go for tapas nights and afternoon tea.
