A proper city-centre pub within walking distance of Cambridge station, with several connected rooms that spread people out — so even when it fills up it rarely feels overwhelming, and there's usually space to park a pram beside a table. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, and the back terrace is the spot families gravitate to in decent weather. Drinks come quickly, there are screens showing football, rugby and snooker, and portions of the food are on the small side for the price. Worth being straight with you: the welcome is inconsistent. Plenty of visits go smoothly with friendly staff behind the bar, but several people describe genuinely brusque treatment, and one group was refused tap water. Good for a relaxed drink and a bite; not the place for a fussy afternoon.
