A proper old-fashioned Cambridge boozer, eight minutes' walk from the station, with wooden tables, real plants above the bar and enough space that a buggy isn't a problem. It's the kind of place where a table of people can actually hear each other — not too noisy, which matters if you're trying to eat with children. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, and there's plenty of outdoor seating out back. The food punches above the price: ribs and burgers, and unusually good West Indian cooking, with the goat curry the thing people come back for. Prices are reasonable and the staff are warm with newcomers — one visitor found them "patient, kind and really helpful". It's family-run and it shows. Worth booking a table at weekends, when it fills up fast.
