Demiro's
Pre-theatre Italian in Cardiff with kids' menu, high chairs and fast service; good-value set menus, though the kitchen can be hit-and-miss.

Restaurant · Cardiff
A canal-side spot at Mermaid Quay that suits families who need somewhere roomy and forgiving — pram access is fine, high chairs are there, and the open dining room means nobody minds a bit of noise. Food comes out of the open kitchen as it's ready rather than all at once, which is useful when someone's patience is running thin. The kids' menu is straightforward, and there's a genuinely wide vegan and vegetarian spread — the pulled shiitake gets described as convincingly "meaty", and the cucumber salad and katsu chicken come up again and again. Lunch deals around £12 for a main and a drink keep it reasonable. Two honest snags: bench seating in places, which isn't comfortable for everyone, and the spicier build-your-own bowls can land a little flat on flavour. Staff are patient and quick to put things right.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
