wagamama cardiff mermaid quay
Roomy waterfront noodle spot with high chairs, strong vegan choices and a £12 lunch deal; food arrives as it's ready.

Italian · Cardiff
Handy for a pre-theatre meal — several families time lunch here before a show and are out in good time, with food arriving fast enough to head off a meltdown. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and a few outdoor tables, and the staff get warm mentions for being friendly and going the extra mile; one family had a surprise birthday cake brought out with a candle after the team overheard them talking. Set menus are where the value sits, two or three courses for around £17–£22, and the drinks list is long. Live music some evenings makes it lively rather than quiet. Be aware the kitchen is inconsistent — the pollo napoletano and the faggots draw praise, but vegetable portions run small and some dishes disappoint at full price. Worth checking your bill too.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
