Tucked just off the main drag, this little Italian has been feeding Leeds families for decades, and the layout hasn't changed in twenty-odd years — cosy, warm, paintings on the walls, buggy access at the door and high chairs when you need them. The staff strike a good balance: attentive without hovering, quick to seat you and take an order, and happy to adapt a dish (one diner was steered away from a meat option and offered a made-to-order alternative instead). There's a kids' menu, vegan choices and a few outdoor tables. Lasagne, mushroom risotto and pesto pasta come in for constant praise, and the chips are a genuine event — fresh potatoes fried till golden, "just like my nan used to make". Portions are generous, prices fair. Worth knowing: it's bustling at peak times so book, and the toilets are downstairs.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
