The Raeburn Bar
Roomy Edinburgh pub with a kids' menu, high chairs, beer gardens and a cracking full Scottish breakfast — book ahead for food.

Café · Edinburgh
A big, bright, modern space in Stockbridge with plenty of seating, which is what makes it workable with a buggy and a couple of children — you're not squeezing past anyone to find a table. Breakfast is the strong suit: the breakfast brioche gets rapturous mentions, as do classic eggs on toast, chilli eggs, the jalapeño and cheddar scone and a properly smooth flat white. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating, and the counter staff are consistently described as cheerful and warm. Two honest notes: it heaves at weekends and gets chatty-loud, and ordering means queueing at the counter with no menus on the tables, so decide before you reach the front. Drinks arrive fast, food can lag when it's busy. It's dog friendly too, so expect to step around a few.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
