Tucked into the corner of Quay Street, this is a cosy little spot where the welcome does a lot of the work — the staff are patient, quick with suggestions if someone has a dietary quirk, and food arrives fast enough to head off a meltdown. Inside is snug rather than roomy, so buggies are easier on a quiet weekday; there's outdoor seating for sunny days and free parking around the corner. The wheaten bread is a genuine highlight, and the pastries, sausage rolls, prawn open sandwich and a properly generous "small fry" all deliver for very little money. Saturday is pizza night — thin, crispy, freshly made, with vegan cheese done well and dough balls worth ordering — and it's bring-your-own. Book ahead: it fills quickly and walk-ins are often turned away. Gluten-free savoury choices are thin.
