A cosy little Cardiff coffee shop with outdoor seating and a warm 4.8 rating — an easy stop with the kids.

Sitting on the edge of the green just outside Whitchurch, this is a proper local with cosy snugs at one end and more open space at the other, so there's usually somewhere to park a pram and spread out with a group. Free parking round the back helps. The draw for families is the price — kids' deals, two-for-one style offers, and plates that arrive genuinely enormous; one family of twelve had mains, drinks and puddings for around £150. Food generally comes out fast and piping hot, which matters when someone's flagging. High chairs are there and buggy access is easy. Worth knowing: steaks are hit and miss, the toilets could do with a revamp, and it's fairly quiet and soulless by day — evenings and quiz nights are when it comes alive.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
