Set right on Plymouth Hoe with the water in front of you, this is the kind of place where the view does half the work — families sit outside in summer, and even on a wet, wild day the windows earn their keep. Buggy access and high chairs are sorted, there's a kids' menu, and the free car park is genuinely useful, though spaces are limited so arrive early. Staff are patient with excitable children and notably careful about allergies — gluten-free, dairy-free and nut allergies handled properly. The fish and chips get real praise for their light, crispy batter, and the burgers arrive with enormous chicken breasts. Big tables are welcome if you pre-order. Two honest snags: service can drag even when quiet, and the £21 roast is a bit hit-and-miss. There's occasional live music too.
