Inside is compact, with tables mostly set for two, so it's easier with a pram if you take one of the outdoor tables under the gazebos, which work in most weather. Everything is homemade by the owner and cooked fresh: the quiche comes with a proper colourful salad, the bacon sandwiches on malted bloomer get talked about, and the sausage rolls have a following. Portions are generous, and the cakes and scones — cherry and almond among them — are the sort people take home. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and free parking. Service can feel a little brisk if you're not a familiar face, and the coffee is hit and miss, but the food carries it.
