Tucked in a spot that's easy to pull into on a Welsh road trip, this family-run café has parking generous enough for a car and trailer, so a pram is no bother at all. Inside it's homely and clean, with tea in proper china cups; outside there's a garden where families and their dogs settle in. Breakfast is the draw — full English, breakfast baps, egg or mushroom on toast, and vegan and veggie options too — alongside home-made steak and kidney pudding, roast vegetable pudding and a tempting array of cakes (the coffee cake and the lemon and blueberry both get raved about). Portions are generous. Worth knowing: the kitchen can be slow when orders stack up, so order early if a hungry child is on the edge. Kids' menu and high chairs are available.
