There are five hand pulls on the ground-floor bar plus an upstairs room, and the toasties are the thing to know about: a made-to-order gourmet one for under £3, which is hard to argue with when you're feeding children on a budget. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and the bar staff have a reputation for being warm — one visitor was touched that they said cheerio on the way out. Two honest caveats: it leans student-y and gets absolutely rammed on match days, and one Saturday visitor found it quiet but pricey. Aim for a weekday or a non-matchday lunchtime.
