Beer's little clifftop village hides a proper find here — the sort of place families end up booking a second night before they've finished pudding. It's busy and buzzy rather than hushed, so nobody minds a bit of noise from your table, and the staff are attentive and genuinely accommodating, swapping ingredients around without fuss when someone's fussy. Buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted. The mains are where the money goes: monkfish pasta, the venison, jambalaya, laksa, and fish and chips with a mountain of chips nobody finishes. Portions are generous and food arrives quickly. The one honest snag — starters come in for regular grumbles on size versus the price, and there's a lot of the same salad on every plate. Skip them, order two courses, and book ahead.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
