Restaurants · Newry
Set in a village beside the forest park, this is a proper old inn where the bar hums with locals and there's often live music or a storytelling session going on at weekends — lovely, though it does get loud, so lunchtimes are the calmer bet with little ones. The restaurant side is roomier and where families settle in, with high chairs, a kids' menu and buggy access sorted. Portions are generous and the cooking is a cut above pub standard: the pork belly, the fish and chips and a harissa salmon all get singled out, and there are proper veggie and vegan choices rather than one token dish. Free parking helps, as street spaces outside are hit and miss. Staff are warm and unhurried, and one visitor called the whole evening "really enjoyable" from start to finish.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
