Pub · Cambridge

An old cinema turned pub, and the bones are still there — a balcony level, rings of lights on the ceiling, huge amounts of seating spread over several floors. That space is the point for families: plenty of room to park a buggy, tables you can actually get to, and toilets on the ground floor rather than up a staircase with a toddler in tow. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, and outdoor seating both at ground level and on the mezzanine. Food is cheap and hot — the burgers and the mash get particular praise — and the staff are generally patient and kind. Two honest snags: breakfast can arrive lukewarm, and Friday and Saturday evenings fill with students, so you'll be lucky to find a seat. Come at lunchtime or early evening and it's calm, safe and very good value.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
