About Cambridge Tap

Tucked into the middle of Cambridge, this is a small, easygoing bar that turns out to have more room than you'd guess — seating downstairs and up, so there's usually somewhere to park a pram without blocking anyone. Food comes out fast, which matters when someone's patience has run out mid-shopping-trip, and the burger list is long with vegetarian versions of most of them. Children get their own menu, high chairs are there, and the staff are notably kind about allergies and intolerances — clear allergen lists, separate cutlery, a solid gluten-free choice. Portions are fair for the money. Sports on the TVs means it can get lively, and the music is loud enough that a nap-in-the-pram plan won't survive it. Dogs are welcome too, and get biscuits. One family found the frickles — battered gherkins — an unexpected hit.
