Steak nights, Sunday roasts and an open fire — this is a proper village pub that happens to be very good with children. The gardens are the draw for families: expansive lawns with a play area, so there's somewhere to send everyone between courses, plus outdoor seating for warmer days. Inside is cosy and, importantly, not too noisy, with high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking. Staff are warm and check on tables without hovering, and the kitchen handles special requests carefully — the gluten-free menu gets genuine praise, tiramisu included. Food is gastro-leaning but with classics: cod with parmesan and truffle chips, roasts that had one family's children clearing their plates. Two honest notes: service can run leisurely when it's busy, and roasts occasionally miss the mark. Worth booking at weekends.
