A converted railway station on a quiet stretch just outside town, family-run since 1982, and the old period features have been kept beautifully — expect the occasional train rumbling past, which small children tend to love. Buggy access is easy, high chairs and a kids' menu are there, and free parking takes one worry out of the trip. Tables sit close together and the room fills fast, so it's lively rather than restful; book ahead, especially for themed evenings. Food arrives quickly, with bread and water brought out while you decide — helpful with a hungry toddler. The slow-braised blade of beef, roast cod and sticky toffee pudding come in for particular praise, and vegan and gluten-free options are properly catered for. Outdoor seating is lovely in summer.
