Set right by the sea at Penmon Point, this is the kind of stop where the view does half the work and the welcome does the rest. Portions are big for the money — burger and chips, and a full breakfast that families reckon is a proper one rather than "half English". There's a log burner inside for cold days, plenty of outdoor seating with indoor tables too, high chairs, a kids' menu and buggy access, plus free parking and a beach and lighthouse within a few minutes' walk. Ice creams, local produce and jars of old-fashioned boiled sweets keep small people busy while you finish a coffee. Fair warning: it's more burgers and pizza than fancy café food, and it can be hit and miss — but the staff are patient and genuinely warm, and the owners' well-behaved dogs are part of the furniture.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
