Most people land here after the walk up to Aber Falls, and it turns out to be a very good place to arrive with tired children — friendly welcome from the owners, service that's quick rather than leisurely, and a few outdoor tables if you'd rather keep a noisy toddler in the open air. It's a small tea room, immaculately kept, with clean toilets and step-free access for a pram. Tea comes in a proper pot and china cups, which slows everyone down nicely. The Welsh rarebit is what people come back for; the jacket potatoes, soups, the bacon, brie and cranberry panini and the homemade cakes all get warm praise — one visitor called the vanilla and mango sponge among the fluffiest they'd eaten. Kids' menu, high chairs, vegan choices and free parking. Cheap, dog-friendly, and busiest on fine weekends.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
