The Whistling Kettle Tea Room & Bistro
Warm, rustic Mirfield tea room with a proper kids' box, gravy-soaked hot sandwiches, free parking nearby and a dog-friendly corner.

Bistro · Mirfield
Tucked away in Mirfield and easy to miss, this is a rustic, warm little spot where families get a genuinely good deal — buy an adult meal and a child's is half price, alongside a proper kids' menu, high chairs and free parking outside. Buggy access is fine and there's outdoor seating for warmer days. The pies are the thing here: the chicken and leek and the Maude pie both get raves, and the 'posh' fries, loaded jacket potatoes and enormous cake slices mean nobody leaves hungry. Breakfasts run all the way to shakshuka and eggs Benedict. Staff are friendly and attentive with little ones — one family brought a one-year-old to a birthday lunch and found the team accommodating throughout. Worth knowing: it can feel pricey for a standard breakfast, and service occasionally drags at busy moments.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
