Café · Liversedge
Tucked off the road in Liversedge and easy to miss from outside, this turns out to be a proper little day out with lunch attached — goats, pigs, alpacas and even peacocks and emus to look at, which buys parents a good twenty minutes of peace. The car park is huge and free, so no circling with a pram in the rain, and tables turn over fast: one family walked in unbooked at a busy lunchtime and were seated within a minute. Inside is warm and cosy, with a sunny outdoor area for when the weather plays along. Eggs Benedict at breakfast, the pulled beef brisket brioche, fish and chips and the very generous pancake stacks all get singled out. Around £40 for two cooked breakfasts and drinks — not cheap, but the quality holds up every visit.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
