Tucked into Hayfield with free parking outside, this is a proper gastropub that happens to make room for children — high chairs, a kids' menu, and tables out front when the weather holds. The food is the reason to come: the Manchester egg, hot and crispy with a runny pickled egg wrapped in black pudding, gets mentioned again and again, and the blade of beef falls apart under a fork. Mash and roasted sprouts with nduja get their own fan club. Staff are warm and genuinely accommodating — they'll ring ahead to talk through allergies, and one family found the chef sat down at their table to explain the menu. It's not cheap, and Sunday lunch divides opinion, with some finding portions small for the price. Booking is worth doing.
