Tucked just off the Sett Valley Trail, this is the sort of stop that rescues a walk or cycle when everyone's flagging — easy free parking, and enough space outside that a pram isn't a problem. There's covered outdoor seating with blankets for chillier days, plus a handful of tables and a loo indoors, and high chairs if you need them. The pies and sausage rolls get the loudest praise (the steak and ale pie especially), along with pastries, cakes and proper milkshakes, and there's a kids' menu and vegan options. Staff are warm and quick to take an order, and they'll bring food over when it's ready. Worth knowing: at busy times there can be a wait on hot food, though they tell you upfront. A few have found prices creeping above expectation.
