Ten minutes' walk from the Principality Stadium, this is a big, roomy city-centre pub with plenty of space to park a pram beside a table rather than wedging it in a corner. Food is honest and generous — the steak pie and shepherd's pie come piping hot and get a lot of praise, and two mains plus drinks came to around £36, which is fair for the middle of Cardiff. High chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating are all sorted, and the staff stay friendly and quick even on a heaving Six Nations weekend. Worth knowing: screens showing sport are everywhere and it gets lively on match days, so a quieter weekday lunch suits little ones better. The toilets are upstairs, which is a trek with a toddler in tow.
