The Muddy Duck Cafe Bar
Stream-side Wigton café with a beautiful garden, generous fast-arriving food and free parking — pricier than it looks, and busy at weekends.

Restaurants · Wigton
A traditional Cumbrian pub on the road through Caldbeck, this one handles big, chaotic family groups better than most — one group of 14 rang at 11am and were told tables would be moved to fit them in, then arrived to fairy lights, a huge central table and a colouring competition for the children. The menu is genuinely long, from snacks and pub staples to more unusual plates like tandoori lamb on flatbread with mango sauce, plus a healthy-options list and vegan choices, and prices are fair for what arrives. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access, free parking, and tables out front and in the back garden for when small people need to move. Dogs get their own menu too. Do book — it fills up, and both evenings people described were busy.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
