It's a quiet two-bar pub most of the time, roomy enough for a pram, with high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking outside, plus outdoor seating when the little ones need to burn something off. Sunday lunch has gone for around a fiver and the portions are generous; regulars reckon the dinners cost less than McDonald's. The staff chat to everyone, which makes arriving with children far less daunting. Worth knowing: it's a drinkers' pub at heart, service can be slow when the bar fills, and they're not great at answering the phone — turn up rather than ring ahead.
