The Merchants of Spice
Roomy converted pub with a big free car park, fast attentive service, kids' menu and high chairs — book ahead, it's busy midweek.

Café · Norwich
A converted shipping container clad in timber, set right beside a Norwich recreation ground playground — which is the real draw here, because children can eat, then run. Seating spreads indoors, outdoors and under cover, so there's plenty of room for a buggy and no need to squeeze past anyone, and parking is easy and free. The sausage rolls get mentioned again and again, as do the cooked breakfasts, including "THE SPANISH" with its tomato-topped toast, and there's a vegan sausage and hash brown bap with chilli jam for anyone skipping meat. Cakes, brownies and Lavazza coffee round it out, all reasonably priced and quick to arrive. Staff are kind with children — one parent got ice for a bumped head without asking twice. Dogs welcome. Toilets close when the café does.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
