The Chalet Tearooms & Restaurant
Roomy Derwentwater walkers' stop with fast service, a wide-ranging menu, free parking and famously good sausage rolls.

Restaurant · Keswick
Set just outside Keswick's crowds, this walled-garden café makes an easy family stop — free parking (£5 pay-and-display, but £4 of it comes back as a café voucher), buggy-friendly paths through the woods from the car park, high chairs and a kids' menu once you're in. Service is quick and friendly, which matters when someone's hungry. Breakfast is the strong suit: the buttermilk pancakes get raved about, as do the eggs Benedict and the mushroom, pea and white bean smash, much of it grown in the garden. Views stretch over the fells to Skiddaw, and there's outdoor seating in good weather. Prices bite — around £20 for rarebit and chips, £5 a slice for cake — and lunch dishes can be hit-and-miss. Dogs are welcome too, sausages and all.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
