Brunch is the big draw here, and it's worth knowing it fills up fast — the steak and eggs, the full English and the eggs Benedict all get proper praise, and if you time it right the cheese scones come out of the oven warm. Lunch runs to fish chowder and buttermilk chicken sandwiches, with generous portions for around £10–15 a head. Wooden tables and leather chairs make it feel cosy rather than slick, there's outdoor seating, free parking and buggy access, and one parent found the staff friendly enough to make the room. Do ask for a high chair and the children's menu rather than waiting to be offered them, and on the busiest days food can be slow — not ideal with a hungry toddler. Baby changing is in the men's toilets.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
