Maltsters Arms Hotel
Fast, generous Sunday roasts with step-free rear access, free parking and high chairs — worth booking, and calmer at lunch than on rowdy evenings.

Pub · Cardiff
A smarter sort of Cardiff pub, this one — the kind where the food is the point rather than a play corner. Families are still looked after: high chairs, a kids' menu, tables outside and free parking, which spares you circling the streets. Inside is pared back but warm, "minimalist yet wonderfully cosy" as one visitor put it, though the room carries sound and the bill can climb. The tasting menu and sharing platters draw the most praise, and allergies are handled unusually well — there's a proper gluten-free alternative menu, which coeliac families rarely get offered. Two honest snags: the rear extension runs cold, and Sunday roasts have been more hit-and-miss than the evening cooking. Suits older children who'll sit through a longer meal better than restless toddlers, and worth booking.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
