Restaurants · Hope Valley
Tucked into Hope Valley and a natural stop after a morning on Kinder Scout, this one feels a notch above the average pub dining room — smart decor, cosy in winter, and calm enough that a coffee-and-cake break with children doesn't feel like an ordeal. There are high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking, plus outdoor seating for fine days. The chicken katsu curry, scotch egg and pie of the day get the most praise, and the chocolate cheesecake and brownies are worth saving room for. Staff are generally warm and patient — one family found the team "fun, supportive and very professional" — though at busy times like Sundays and bank holidays food and drinks can be slow to arrive, so book ahead. Chips are the weak link. Dogs welcome. Ask for the car park exit code before you leave.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
