Worth knowing before a post-walk lunch: the garden is the draw here, with a covered outdoor area and a marquee that gives bigger groups their own corner, plus free parking and high chairs indoors. It's a small, traditional tearoom space, so a pram is easier left outside. Food arrives quickly — one family was seated straight away on a Friday afternoon — and the cake counter is genuinely hard to choose from: coffee and walnut, cherry almond, cherry scones with all the trimmings. The afternoon tea gets the loudest praise, with portions so generous people take leftovers home, and there's a vegan option and a kids' menu. Coffee is properly hot, which regulars rate highly. A snag: the scones can be more fruit loaf than scone, and baguettes are ordinary white.
